So I bought a keyboard off eBay that was said to work with mac, and it does but were the Escape key or esc is meant to be it it just a square that gets of applications when it is connected to a iPad / iPhone / iPod touch. How do I make that key do the action escape.

Added (1). Sorry about the typo's, I am sure you will be able to figure out what I mean.
Added (2). I have not connected it to any other products but my iMac and was bought new.
The way I know the key is for getting off applications iPad's is because I have a keyboard for my iPad.
