Should I buy a mac book air when I have an ipad and an iPhone?

I own an ipad 3 and an iPhone 5c and I'm wondering whether to get a mac book air. I previously had a Asus laptop but sold it as my ipad could do everything it could do and more and easier to use. Would this be the same with a mac? Is it worth it if I have an ipad?

How much could I sell my iPad 3 for?

I have had it for 2-2.5 years now and I am saving up for the MacBook Pro or Air (haven't decided which yet.) The iPad is still in good condition besides the charging connector being a little loose, but it still works. It is the White, 16gb, WiFi model, and like I said it is pretty much like brand new! I was thinking around $300!

I accidentally my ipad in the knee( the ipad was on the floor and I went hit the edge off the ipad, with my knee) and when I looked at the screen if its ok, a vertical line on the right side appeared and I dont know how to fix it…

Added (1). hello world! I cant decide whether I want to get an ipad mini or Microsoft surface. I plan on using this mostly for school ( to take notes, turn in assignments, research, ect.) because I cant really carry around my laptop everyday, but also for my everyday use. Im kind of leaning towards the surface because it has a USB port and Microsoft word, excel, powerpoint, ect.
if you have either one of these products and use them for similar reasons to mine, please tell me your experience.
