Gmails' 2-Step Verification Prevents Me From Signing In Mobile Devices?

Ever since I added the 2-step verification to my account, I have not been able to sign in to my account on my Blackberry or iPad via the Email apps. For the iPad it just says it's the wrong password and on my Blackberry it says Update Failed. I remove the account in both devices completely then tried to add them again but still a no go. I know my password is right because I can sign in and out on the browser just fine with the same password. Ideas?
