IPad vs iphone 6 plus?

Hi,
So I went to a phone repair shop today and the guy was selling an iPad. I'm not sure what iPad it was but it may have been an iPad mini 1st generation ( based on a quick internet search and looked at pictures) he was selling it for £190 but I'm not sure whether to get it or to buy the iPhone 6 plus. I currently have the iPhone 5 but if I buy the iPad it's going to be atleast another 2 years till I get a new phone. And by then the iPhone 5 is gonna be so old that new updates won't include the iPhone 5.
So could you perhaps give some pros and cons on either one please.
I'm kind of on the fence and can't decide.
