IPad or Smartphone? Christmas present for future husband!

I am trying to decide what to buy my fiance for christmas. I keep refusing to get a smartphone bc the data plan is so expensive, although I do feel bad about it because he is a 'working professional' and so he really does need it to keep on top of everything. I was thinking about getting him the iPad for christmas in hopes that he could carry it around in his attache/laptop bag, on the assumption that he will be able to get free wi-fi in enough places that it will be useful. Can anyone with an iPad tell me if it is worth it to get the iPad without any sort of paid wireless, ie.can you just connect to free wireless in enough places that it is just as useful? Thanks for your help!

Are there any websites like firstrowsports that will work for an iPad?

So on first row sports you can watch sport games and football games most importantly. But it won't work on an iPad so is there a website that is similar and supports mobile devices such as an iPad?

What's the difference between an IPad and a Tablet?

I am hoping to buy an IPad or a Tablet. Because I am not very "techy" I would like some information on the difference between the IPad or Tablet.

Should i get a laptop or ipad?

Im not sure whether to get an ipad or not, people have told me that they dont have word which would be a problem because im going to need to be writing lots of essays for work on it so would a laptop be more practical … if so which one, advise please! i'd also like it to have quite a big screen so if an ipad which one?

I can't wake up to anything, help?

Today alone I slept rough 15 alarms, coming from my iPad, phone, and a couple different alarm clocks. According to my mom, they were loud enough to be heard across the entire house, yet I didn't even stir or hear them. They kept ringing until either they turned themselves off, or my mom came in and turned them off. They were going off for about 2 hours straight, apparently. She also tried to yell at me to get up, at which point I apparently talked in my sleep and she left. I remember none of this, and these were set a full 9 hours after I went to sleep.
This is a common problem for me, and it seems like no matter how much I sleep, I still don't wake up. I am consistently late for school in the morning because no matter how early I set my alarm, or how many I set, I still sleep through all of them and don't even stir. I'm running out of options, what do I try next?

I'm 18, female and a student, if that matters. I've had this issue for a while but it has never been this bad. Things I've tried include: more alarms, different alarms, louder alarms, biphasic sleep schedule, changing my bed area so it's less comfortable, monitoring my sleep movements and setting smart alarms, etc.

IPad 2 or a new laptop for college.?

I can't decide what i want! I'm doing a performing arts course in college. We sometimes need to type up all the work that we did or we get homework to do research on something etc.so we need to search the web and have a notebook on our computers. We usually go to a library but i want to have something with me so that all of my work is with me at all time if you know what i mean. If i was getting an iPad then i would be getting a keyboard with it as well just so that it's easier to type. Although i have no problem typing on a touch screen either. I couldn't afford a macbook right now, so if i was getting a laptop i would be getting something cheaper.So what do you think? should i get an iPad or a laptop? Also IF i was getting an iPad - how do you get the internet connection on an iPad? i never understood how to do that. OR on a laptop too? I see some people with a thing that looks like a memory stick and apparently that's how they get the internet connection??? I'm sorry..i honestly don't understand how that works: P

Why did they release ipad 4 same year as they release the ipad 3?

The ipad 3 was release in march 2012 and ipad 4 was announce in october 2012 and ipad 4 is gonna be in stores on November 2 2012 why did launch ipad 4 7 months after the ipad 3?
