Why do apps take up so much storage when they could just store it on the Internet?


There's this one game that I downloaded and it only works with Internet. I don't understand the reason that it has to put an entire gigabyte of stuff on my iPad when I can't even access it offline. Is this just to store space on servers? In my opinion, it makes the game easier to hack as well.
