Ipad runs out of battery while charging?

So I decided to use the family iPad it was At 2% (stupid parents) I was Despret to use it So I used it while it was charging it was losing battery while I used it I thought it was cuz I was using it while charging so I woke up this morning and it was at 1% and it died then it started turning back on as if it were charging how can I fix this
