IPad for university student?

I was thinking of buying an iPad this summer which I would use for my last year of university. I have a windows laptop, but it is too heavy to carry to school and the battery came defective (I am guessing) as after 2 years, it can only hold a charge for 10 mins max (even without internet or videos running).

My reasoning for wanting to get an iPad are:
- long lasting battery life
- can be helpful if prof does not post powerpoint presentations ahead of time so they can be printed (which happens very often)
- I want to spend some time working on other documents for my other classes during my break
- there are barely any power outlets (and none in class) for if I do bring my laptop to school

a few questions for you iPad owners,
- how easy (if at all possible) is it to create a document on iPad and have it transferred on my windows laptop?
- is it possible to open a microsoft word or excel or powerpoint document on the iPad from my email or dropbox then edit it as I would on my laptop (i know all functions will not be available)

Would this be a good idea, and why?
Added (1). I will use my laptop at home for my papers, I was just thinking about an iPad for during school or quickly viewing documents and editing during school hours. Wouldn't want my editing to go to waste so I wanted to know if those documents could be transferred to Windows to use in Microsoft Word.

IPad apps for school? - 1

I just got an iPad mini and I'm excited to use it for school, but I don't know what apps to download! What do you recommend for typing up papers, things for learning French (I'm an intermediate level student), for viewing Microsoft Word documents, quizzing myself, etc???

IPad keeps hogging up wifi internet?

I have cable internet and we have a wireless router.It used to be that when two laptops and one desktop was online at the same time (all 3 windows OS) the internet would work fine and the speed was decent. One of the laptops got replaced by an iPad. Everytime that iPad is used to go online, the internet speed slows down significantly (it's like dial up) half the time and the other half of the time the desktop and laptop cannot use the internet, but the iPad does no problem.

1. Why does the iPad hog up the internet like that?

2. What can be done so that the iPad doesn't hog up the internet?
Added (1). @Patrizia: Then please give a theory for this: As soon as the iPad is shut off, the internet is fine. Another thing we tried is that when we clear the cache on the iPad that speeds up the internet for the desktop and laptop.
Added (2). @branden: All devices have been scanned. The PC's have even been scanned in safe mode in addition to regular mode. If the iPad doesn't hog up the net, then why does it work fine for the laptop and other devices when it is shut off?
Added (3). Please provide objective answers. Please no biased "fan boy" opinions.

Help on finding a video editor?

Alright so Im looking for an app that I can get on my IPad that edits videos? So Im doing a parody sort of thing with the original video and I'm going to be changing the words. I will need the app to be able to download the original video-- and also let me edit the words that they are saying? Lol, Im not sure if there is an app like this, but if there is please tell me!

How to reduce your time on the internet?

I go online a lot, whether its on my phone, ipad or computer.the majority of my time is refreshing my twitter and facebook feed to see if there is anything new or if anyone wants to talk to me.i have tryed to spend less time online but im always scared somebody important might try to tell me something important or there might be something big happening while im gone! are there ant suggestions on any new hobbies a 13 yr old female can take up? i love photography and youtube but my camera is so bad :( thank you :)

What would be a good PDF editor app for the iPad?

Hi, I just bought an iPad for my college work. I'm looking for a PDF editor app which allows me to sync files with cloud services such as Dropbox and sky drive. I was told that iannotate PDF is one of the best apps out there. But it seems like it's missing the zoom function. Any suggestions?

I need better wifi signal!

Ok my problem is that i have low wifi signal on my PC…
And i just want to make the signall better…

My modem huawei 520i (router) is in TV room and my PC is in my room and the distance of its its alittle far away from the TV room to my room …
And have alot of walls and 2 doors between it …

The problem of my signalls are only when im in game and playing something, and my sister start using her new iPad4s wifi, it make my pings higher and wifi signal lower … its even worse when she chat someone in skype …

Sometimes the wifi internet just doesnt work it automaticly shut down also on the iPad and after while it turns on again …

So i was thinking about buy something like wifi extender or some repeater … or what ever is it …
Whats better wifi extender or wifi repeater ??

IPad 2 won't turn on past the white apple logo screen?

Yesterday my mother bought a new ipod shuffle for my Dad as a gift and kept trying to sync my itunes music to it.It took her many hours but she finally got it. Now today, I wake up and go to turn my ipad 2 on and it can't get passed the white apple logo screen.Is this just a coincidence or is there any relation between the 2?

How to set up email on Ipad so i can have the same emails on both the pc and ipad?

I am setting up email on the ipad 2 (not for me but for my nan) with a plus net account but I want to set it up so the same emails are on both the ipad 2 and the pc. I think she uses either outlook or Windows live mail.is there a setting that I can choose? Thanks

I think my doll is haunted?

OKAY, let me start by saying I've never watched chucky, never believed in haunted dolls, and I've always loved dolls and never had a fear of them.

I know this sounds ridiculous and I wouldn't believe it if I were someone else.

So here's what happened.

When I was a little girl, I was obsessed with this doll in particular. I thought it would be cool to have a real baby with a soul, so I prayed to God (keep in mind I was only five) that he'd give it a soul and make it alive.

I heard a baby crying twice during that year.IT WAS NOT IN MY MIND. I always heard it when no one else was around. I would pick up the doll and the crying would stop.

Well, I just got the doll out from an old box. I played with it a while and stitched up a hole in it. Then, I layed the doll on my bed, face up. Facing the ceiling. I was on my bed, playing with my IPad, when I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye. I no doubt definitely saw something moving. I wasn't afraid/paranoid. I looked over and the doll was facing me. Like it had rolled over.

I think I accidentally invited the devil or a demon into my house when I asked god to make it alive. I have no idea what to do.My mom won't get it blessed, I already know, because she doesn't believe in the same religion as I do and she'd call it silly. I'm too young to drive. I asked my older brother and he told me to throw it out, but I'm terrified it would somehow end up out of the garbage back into the house. Right now I have it in the closet in a bin with heavy things on top of the bin and shelves pushed in front of the closet.

I've said Jesus Christ's name. I literally just said 'Jesus Christ' really loudly. I don't know what on earth to do tonight… I am obviously NOT sleeping. I'm thinking of taking it to church tomorrow and asking the preacher what to do about it, but I'm afraid to carry it on the walk over.

PLEASE, PLEASE, TELL ME WHAT TO DO.

This isn't a troll!

I'm terrified.

Should I throw it away? Burn it? Take it to church? Take it to church, then burn it?

P.S. The only church in walking distance isn't a Catholic Church.It's a non-denomination. Could they still bless the doll?

IPad stuck on apple logo screen?

My iPad stuck on apple logo screen. I have charged it for more than 3 hours so I can restore but it shows that the battery is low so every time I try restore the setting the iTunes logo will go back to the apple logo screen. How can I restore my settings before my mum freak out? HELP HELP
