Why is my iPad asking for a 6 digit passcode?

I restarted my iPad that had a 4 digit passcode. When I opened it up again, it asked for a 6 digit passcode. I never set a 6 digit one and now can't get in! I don't want to delete my iPad. I have also already tried 123456 and 000000 and putting random 0s in my old passcode. It is very frustrating! Please help!

I'm a regular Apple user (I have an iPod, MacBook Pro, iPhone, etc) and my iPad Mini is pretty outdated. I was looking to get the new iPad Pro. I've heard it works like a PC computer, according to Apple's website.

Do you know any profound differences, features, and improvements the iPad Pro has compared to a regular iPad? What special features does it have? Benefits? What makes it different and professional?
