My imessage on my ipad won't turn on, it keeps staying at "waiting for activation" for two days? Any help?

My iPad is stuck in recovery mode?

I just downloaded the latest software update after iOS 8, and now my iPad is stuck in recovery mode. I've tried a bunch of applications that I got from the internet and are supposed to get your device out of recovery mode, but none of them seem to work. I think it's because I have iOS 8. Does anyone have any idea what I can do? Sadly, I haven't synced my iPad in a while. So, I really don't want to restore my iPad.
