Should I get the Ipad mini or the Kindle Fire HD?

In the fall I start college and I want to get a tablet for taking notes and putting some of my school books on there. I have good things about both and I have done my price checks on both. I know the Ipad is more expensive but I feel like it has more. Can I get some other people's opinions on both for educational purposes?
