My school has aquaponic system, a combination of aquaculture (growing aquatic animals in a tank to be harvested) and hydroponics (growing plants suspended in water w/ no soil) so that the feces of the fish fertilize the plants. We do it the unusual way, we grow them in gravel, the fish are gown in a separate tank and the water is pumped into the plants gravel
