Can't activate iPad?


I reset my iPad about a year and a half ago(August 2014) and it wouldn't and still won't let me in. It is linked to an Apple ID. The screen says:
"Activate iPad
This iPad is linked to an Apple ID. Enter the Apple ID and password that were used to set up this iPad. (m⬤⬤⬤⬤⬤@aol.com)
Apple ID [enter space]
Password [enter space]"

But using the ID I used to set it up, I can't get in?
Added (1). When I use the ID i used to set it up, a pop-up comes and says "Incorrect Apple ID.
"margaretnoll@aol.com" cannot be used to unlock this iPad."
