If I copy iPad notes to Word or send it to mail, pictures are gone. How to fix that?

If I copy notes with pictures on an iPad4 to Word or send it to mail, pictures are gone. How to fix that?

Copy/paste the whole note results in only getting the text in the result.
I read something about synchronizing to Exchange, being the fault. Surely there must be a solution to this?
The student can now use Word instead of Notes, but still we have the problem of getting the existing note (with pics) to Word (or PDF).
Printing to a virtual Air PDF printer might do the trink, but I think that app costs $2. We don't want to pay:). The iPad was expensive enough.
