Parenting style. Tiger parent or quick fix?

I'm doing a report on the tiger parent method for psychology for my masters degree. I know a lot of people think hitting kids is wrong but when i was a kid i got a swat, if i talked back i got upgraded to two more swats. Tiger parents are meaner. If you've read the book you understand if you haven't quick re-cap. Some parents will burn all the stuffed animals if their child doesn'tt olay the perfect piano. An A- is equal to an F. No lunches for a week if they do badly. It's cruel, i agree but compared to that is hitting your child worse? Opinions? The tiger parent method or spanking?
