In this day and age, plenty of kids choose their bedtimes. It's perfectly normal. And you know, even if they have bed times chosen for them, they won't listen. Kids nowadays don't need to either. Why go to bed at 8 or 9? Why not live a little? Don't you think they shouldn't have bed times at all?
Any way, parents who send their kids to bed really early; does it make you angry that your efforts are pointless? How do you feel when you send Timmy to bed at 8 and he's up till 12 or 1 in the morning on his phone or iPad? Do you really think you can stop him or change his mind?
Just let it be.
